Annual Stokes Valley Community Hui

On Friday 13 November, Stokes Valley residents, community leaders, business/organisation heads & decision makers will be making their way to the Annual Stokes Valley Community Hui with a vision to make progress on specific areas of need as identified at the inaugural hui held last year. Children/Youth, Fun Events, Environment, Communication, Safety and Community will be followed up and reported back by the coordinators of each area and a commitment by the community to take responsibility for the working groups will be sought.

“The outcome of the Hui is 1; for the community of Stokes Valley to work together and 2; improve or make a positive change to the areas identified” says Tracey Pomare, coordinator of the Stokes Valley Community Hui/Stokes Valley Community House. “There are many groups in Stokes Valley doing lots of wonderful things for the community and the Hui will facilitate a dialogue between groups which could also fulfil some of the needs identified” she says.

Its August again and we are looking forward to another great summer season of tennis. If you’d like to get back into tennis or start playing in a social atmosphere come along to our club days on Saturday to find out more information or phone one of the Clubs Contacts below.

Our Junior & Senior Club day is every Saturday (times below). We also have organised play on Monday and Wednesday nights starting at 7pm, as well as a Midweek club day every Tuesday morning.

We also run Grasshopper courses for the young ones (5+) played with low compression tennis balls and smaller nets! This is a great way to get the kids into sport.

Other opportunities for playing tennis are available around the Hutt Valley. Mitchell Park have begun re-surfacing their courts and will continue to with their regular Wednesday and Thursday night leagues. Stokes Valley have a team that plays on Thursday night throughout the year.

Registration dates for Interclub Teams Sun 30th Aug – 10am:

If your interested in playing interclub or being a team manager please come to the clubrooms on Sunday 30th August to register your team (wet or fine). At this meeting we will be discussing team fees, poloshirts, and teams trials.

Team Trials will be held on Sun 6th Sept

Team Practice will be held on Sun 13th Sept.

Juniors Open day : Saturday 12th September - 9.00am

Midweek Tennis : Tuesday 1st September – 9.30am

Grasshoppers course commencing Wednesday 11th November – 4.00pm for 6 weeks.
